Hingst­s­let­ta is a low-lying plain in the ent­rance area of Lom­fjord on the west side of the fjord. The who­le area is part of Hin­lo­pen Strait, it is on the west side of this huge water­way. A litt­le river is flowing through the rocky land­scape, part­ly forming litt­le rapids and water­falls.

The­re is this ske­le­ton of a hut near the shore, which was quite obvious­ly never finis­hed. May­be built by trap­pers, may­be sci­en­tists had star­ted to build some kind of shel­ter. Short­ly after we left the place, a curious polar bear came along …

A few impres­si­ons of Hingst­s­let­ta, from stones (beau­tiful­ly fold­ed sla­te) and flowers to distant views. And polar bears. In 2021, a dead wha­le was washed up on the shore, and it wasn’t long befo­re the polar bears of Hin­lo­pen Strait had gathe­red the­re.
